BEATLES SCRAPBOOK FOR SEPTMBER 4TH, 1964 CONCERT IN MILWAUKEE, WISCONSINPROVENANCE
On April 20th, 1964 my dad took me to the Topping & Co. store in Milwaukee and we purchased 3 tickets (.50 each) for the September Beatles concert at the Milwaukee Arena. One was for me and the other 2 were for my girlfriends, Susie and Sandy. We then went to my dad's mortgage company and put those 3 tickets in a safe deposit box. The tickets were in the Lower Parquet in the 6th row, off to the side--so the view was almost near-perfect to see the stage.
The day had finally come and my dad dropped all 3 of us off at the Arena. The show started and Jackie Shannon was the opening act for the Beatles. The concert was fantastic, of course, with mostly constant screaming, including us. Sandy's uncle was a detective for the Milwaukee Police Department and was hired for security at the concert and we could see him standing and guarding the stage.
After the show, it was rumored that the Beatles were staying at the Coach House Motor Inn, a few blocks from the Arena. We decided to walk there, hoping to get a glimpse of the Beatles, but we didn't see them.
After the concert, I decided to start this scrapbook to keep my ticket stub and the professional photos (4" x 6") of the Beatles I bought from the WOKY radio station, which were selling for about .00. Bob Barry was a radio host there and was also the MC for the Beatles concert and was the promoter for those photos. (
Those photos are now missing
