    Description

Here is the only working large higher power dual Brewster window tube Hughes
    Aircraft
Corp. laser head we (Sam at Sam's Laser FAQ and I) have ever seen in 20 years collecting lasers. Most of the smaller ones are Gold anodized (and dead) but this 3170H is large
diameter and black....and working!  Vintage ~1978. I believe 10 mW minimum power outputting 8-9 mW hot now...43 years later.  I have NOT
    aligned
the mirrors so more power is probably possible, maybe over
    original
specs!  Tube voltage is 3300V @ 9.3 mA  and the power supply is modified with the correct vintage module (also almost impossible to  find).
    Serial
number 105 and probably the model started with 101 (typical). Own a working piece of history and make holograms with it.  Obvious difference from
    modern
heads are the cable goes into the laser output end of the head on the side and looking carefully you can see the
    Brewster
    window
on the front end through the
    mirror
. Mirror adjust screws on front and rear end plates. The rear end allows the waste beam to exit and you can see the rear mirror. The double Brewster window laser tube is designed with a wide bore so the voltage is lower
    requiring
a higher current. Most lasers this length are 6.5 to 7 mA, not 9.3 mA but that is normal for this head. Buy it now and I will include the heavy laser stand shown. :)
Rare to find, the only one we have ever seen working. Best wishes,
