Hemmings starts with the roots of surfing and discussion of Captain James Cook, the missionaries' effect on early surfing, surfing's revival, and the Duke. Also includes information on wave creation, surfboard design, technique, and competition. Lots of full-color photos from the era by the likes of Steve Wilkings, Bernie Baker/Island Style, Bob DeMello, Rus Calisch, amd the Hawaii state archives. This copy is in very good condition, at least 85 percent of mint. Very light cover and spine wear. Complete and intact with no torn or missing pages and no cutouts.
