    Description

Vintage 1950's silhouettes done by Artist Joseph G. Markay aka "Nemo" at the French Casino in Havana, Cuba.
These are from a relative who had traveled to
    Havana in the 1950's.
Joseph "Nemo" Markay was born in Hungary and studied at Sorbonne in Paris.  While trained as a sculptor, Nemo had practiced the craft of silhouette art for 25 years
    before joining up
with his friend Alex Degonslar at Disneyland in 1956 where they both worked as silhouette artists at the Main Street Silhouette Shop.  Very experienced
    in his craft, Nemo
    had created
silhouettes for President Franklin K. Roosevelt (when FDR was Governor of New York) and also for Winston Churchill  (when he was
    Prime
    Minister
    of England).
This pair of vintage silhouettes measure 5" x 8.25".  Slight wrinkles in the
silhouette and light scuffing - nothing that detracts from the artwork.
